How to check IRCTC PNR status :

* Use 139 service : 139 service is the oldest and the direct official service from the Indian Railways that is serving the people of this country since many years. This is the 24/7 service especially to help the passengers who use Indian Railways. With this service, one can know the IRCTC PNR status just by sending a short message to it by typing PNR and immediately followed by the 10-digit PNR number and send it to 139 service. For example type PNR 0123456789 and send it to 139. Within minutes after sending you will have the details regarding the PNR status.

Other than this one can also use another service number to check the PNR status. For this number too, type the same way like the earlier one and send it to 5676747 and you will receive a message regarding the PNR status. Both these numbers as many as Rs.3 will be charged and can be used from any part of the country.
* Use of 10-Digit Mobile number :We Indians always look for a cheaper way where we can use no money for a service like this. As above mentioned 139 service needs some charge for function many doesn't opts this unless in emergency cases. For you people there is a number from Google who has introduced a cheaper and simple method. In this method you can send a message by typing just the 10-digit PNR number and you have to send it to "9773300000" and you will be receiving the message in minutes and that too for fress. Only normal SMS charges are applicable.

* Use GPRS Phones :These days who doesn't have a smart phone in person. Everyone has one and it will be definitely have an internet connection too. With internet connection to it, you can login into the official website of Indian Railways like www.indianrail.gov.in and on the top you will find a "Check PNR" field. Select this and enter your 10-digit PNR number and you will receive the relevant information.

Once you get your required PNR status, then you have to know whether the ticket is confirmed or not. If the PNR status code is CNF, then your ticket is confirmed. There are different types of PNR status codes that you will get. There may be a need to recheck the PNR status prior to travelling as your position may change at any minute of time.
